The idea that you can somehow hyperoptimize the results of research by explicitly saying that "these" types of science will lead to the desired outcomes while "those" types won't, is, quite frankly, ridiculous. And must be an opinion from someone who's never actually been a researcher. 🧪

Skin analysis with gas cluster sources in SIMS with Prof John Fletcher from Gothenburg. Fascinating just how much advanced with molecular ion detection using GCIB sources - I remember struggling to get matrix-assisted SIMS to work on 1000Da - that is solved this completely @avs-members.bsky.social
