That’s not “knowledge.” It doesn’t even qualify as regurgitation of knowledge. It’s machine plagiarism, not learning.

It’s not free either. The demand for energy from AI sources is driving up both climate change emissions and everyone’s energy bills.

What do you think is the main cause? Electricity consumption had been static/decreasing over the last 20 years. Now we have projected 200% increases. What beside AI & other big data centers is upping the consumption? Not enough new EVs on the road to account for it, & they emit less than ICE cars.

You don’t need AI to figure out rampant , unnecessary, ubiquitous AI is the main cause of the problem.

It’s a tool that should be selectively used and pay its own way for the energy it consumes and greenhouse gasses it emits.

I frequently say you don't need to protest. You don't! There are a thousand other ways to push back on fascism if protesting doesn't feel comfortable or safe for you!

It’s because that’s what they do.

Starting with the Tea Party, they hired and bussed people to events, creating a wag-the-dog appearance of a grass roots movement that basically told people what to think, then claiming to bow to the people’s will that they had created.

Don’t forget the local races. The GOP got their power from a disciplined grab of local power from school boards, city councils, to state legislators. All too often Democrats are too infatuated with congressional and presidential races, & maybe governors, at the expense of grassroots representation.

It’s easier to be pariahs after your movement is proven corrupt and abominable. Saw how people in Norway viewed neighbors and family members who had been Quislings during WWII. Their shame outlived them. There was no forgetting and little forgiveness.

What does it matter if 72% of Americans think global warming causes droughts?

Don’t the correlated science & meteorological records bear that out regardless of what people think, including the 28% that get this dead wrong?

Bring back experts — Retire “man-on-the-street” polls and interviews.

And that just measures the energy produced, not the relative emissions. Producing and burning ethanol pollutes and produces greenhouse gasses to a vastly greater degree than solar panel implementation.

Over 40% of corn grown in Indiana is used to make ethanol that cars burn. One acre of corn yields about 16,500 vehicle-miles per year of ethanol, which sounds high until you realize that one acre of solar yields about 2,700,000 vehicle-miles per year: 16,000% more driving for a given plot of land.
