I remember being so upset in high school for being criticized for referring to an author as « they » in a paper. This was a journal paper and I was given a first initial and last name (no honorific). How the FUCK am I supposed to know which pronoun to use - guess?

Its insane to hear the different arguments playing out:

Sports: HRT is SO ineffectual, it does NOTHING to change the “basic” biology

Medicine (non-scientific): HRT is SO dangerous. It permanently alters bodies and cannot be administered even with consent

All it does is set up explicit exlusion

This is what I tell people. If the US claws back even half of the damage done, they will pat themselves on the back and celebrate (even rightfully so). However, I fear that they will count trans rights as an “acceptable price” to pay. I desperately want to be wrong, but it gnaws deep within my soul.

Dolly Parton has sent my daughter a new book every month for years as she does for thousands of children. She help fund the development of the Covid vaccine. She’s not a billionaire. I think as non wealthy people it’s hard to even imagine how much billionaires *could* be doing with their money.
