There is something interesting about old-school metal bands hiring drummers half their age. Obviously any new member brings an infusion of new energy, but when it crosses generational lines it becomes much more intriguing because you can tell the band is trying to keep up with the young blood.

D’Angelo dying truly makes the world a lot less sexier. Bummer, man.

Listening to the new Testament record and while I miss Gene Hoglan on drums, they still know how to write some good goddamn thrash metal tunes. (And the new kid drumming for them is a fucking beast!)

My Friendship Commanders care package arrived today, and I’m positively thrilled!

One of my favorite bands from back home is @fcommanders.bsky.social and they have a fantastic new record out today called BEAR. Sick riffs, dynamic drumming, gorgeous lyrics; all of my favorite things in one killer musical package. You’re gonna wanna check this one out.

Made it in the elevator just before the doors closed, turned around and realized I’d made a horrible mistake.

Not quite the same (maybe though, since some people think using AI for creative projects is somehow okay), but one year I wrote a short story for a fiction course in a caffeinated frenzy over a single weekend before workshops began, and it was voted the best story in class.
