I am overall positive about this development. wary of the crime narrative surfacing so early and without provocation. Please don’t go touting putting kids in cages as a positive resume builder. Please hold the line on community involved, restorative, noncarceral solutions to increase public safety.
The DC I know is worth fighting for.

This is a very sweet (if very Christian-centric) trans-led mutual aid project that connects anonymous gift givers with unhoused or in-foster care trans kids.

@nwslsoccer.com you failed here. You need to immediately stipulate in your charter contracts that you won’t accept flights from these airlines. This is not what my money as a fan will be used for. @gothamfc.bsky.social @washingtonspirit.com
🏆⚽️✈️ After winning the NWSL championship Saturday night, Gotham FC have just departed San Jose on board the very same all-white Avelo jet (N805VL) that lost cabin pressure with shackled ICE abductees aboard two weeks ago and had to make an emergency landing in Las Vegas 😬

We're seeing some confusion about this, so let's talk about it.

Home Depot has been complicit as ICE snatches day laborers out of parking lots. At minimum Home Depot is turning a blind eye, and there have also been rumors they may be more actively complicit. Organizers including #weaintbuyingit 🧵
In Monrovia, California, protesters are purchasing 17¢ ICE scrapers from Home Depot and immediately returning them to create long lines and slow down the entire store. Their aim is to disrupt sales and convey a message opposing ICE raids occurring in their neighborhood.

Hey y'all! This didn't get great traction last time. A friend of FTP is struggling and needs help after being sketchily turned away by some other local organizers. We now have a smaller short-term goal to keep her phone on. Please share and support! Feel free to send us donos labeled "for M" for her

DC absolutely needs statehood so that the people who live there aren't ruled by goons they never elected. A genuine ongoing scandal and absolute betrayal of the principles of the country.
These 20 House Democrats just joined Republicans in voting to fully repeal DC's police reform laws.

Wiping off the books critical laws on use of force, transparency, and preventing violent cops from getting rehired.

They think that they should have more say over DC police than the people of DC.

Of all my posts, this is the one that I wish would be shared widely. I hope people will donate to Bryan's legal defense, but even if you don't, it's important to be aware of the human rights horrors that are going on around us on a daily basis.
Please help Bryan, a decent and hardworking person who was just kidnapped off the street in DC. He has been in this country since he was a child. He has a business and a family. He does not deserve such shameful cruelty. Please share.

Well I guess the bright side of no representation is I don’t have to worry whether my rep will ever betray me and the rest of the country with cowardly nonsensical deals with the let’s starve children, kill sick and disabled people, terrorize trans people, and bring back concentration camps party.

DC Council handing the feds the tools with which they can terrorize our children.
NEWS: The D.C. Council has approved a three-month extension of the expanded juvenile curfew that was in place during the summer. It applies to more kids and lets MPD designate temporary areas where the curfew is 8 p.m. (Standard curfew time is 11 p.m.)

I want to double-tap this, and we can see it viscerally in the policing of young Black teens who try to exit the Navy Yard stop of the Metro here in DC.
When I was a new graduate in the year of our economic catastrophe 2008, I lived in NYC. Which was similarly great because a Metrocard is a damn sight cheaper than a car, gas, and insurance. Public transportation is for class and racial mobility. Which is why Americans are poisoned against it.

The sandwich came apart and "kind of exploded" on his chest upon impact, he says.

"I could smell the onions and mustard."

She’s consistent, I’ll at least give her that.
Interesting tidbit: Despite the D.C. Council rejecting @mayorbowser.dc.gov's attempt to repeal the city's sanctuary city law (which limits local cooperation on federal immigration enforcement) over the summer, she pitched the idea to lawmakers again last month.

So imagine this. MPD working with Feds pull you over for tint. Feds start shooting. You try to get away but can’t. Bullets through your passenger seat and jacket collar. MPD arrests you for felony fleeing. MPD omit the shooting from your arrest report.

An HSI agent fired three times into a vehicle police claimed was trying to flee. The charges were dismissed during a preliminary hearing.

@mayorbowser.dc.gov is either lying about continued collaboration of mpd and the feds or she’s uninformed and ineffective as an executive. It’s one or the other. Because less than an hour ago I saw the kidnapping posse snatch someone off the street in Petworth, with MPD right by their side.
