We used to protect children from viruses. We used to protect immunocompromised adults too. We used to protect cancer patients from viruses known to cause and inflame cancer. We used to protect children from dangerous products that had killed ONE child. ONE.

How many deaths have u learned to accept?

We are living through the most consequential shift in the constitutional government of the United States in over a hundred and fifty years and nobody seems to have even noticed yet.

“Gertie… they’re putting us into camps.”

“But you were born here,” Simons responded, “you’ve always been here.

“Well, they’re sending us away…so I have some things I’m going to give you.”

—from “The Forging of a Black Community” by Quintard Taylor
Other Seattle African Americans recalled the relocation and condemned the unfairness of the government’s action. Gertrude Simons remembered what her Japanese friend and colleague said after the evacuation announcement: “Gertie… they’re putting us into camps.” “But you were born here,” Simons responded, “you’ve always been here. “Well, they’re sending us away…so I have some things I’m going to give you.” And with that she left precious family heirlooms with Simons. “Oh that was a sad day,” recalls Juanita Warfield Proctor. “They really were American people. They really shouldn’t have been in the camp because they were American-born Japanese.”

being a dodgers fan must be incredible. you check in around september, and either they win the world series or you start watching the lakers. then if the lakers don’t win the finals you can check stats and start bragging about how many all-stars the dodgers have

It really isn't anything special. It serves as an exemplar of propagandistic cinematography mostly because of the speech scenes, but most of the work there was being done by the stadium architecture and rally decorations, and the shot framing was rather rote.

I'm watching Triumph of the Will (1935) because I haven't seen it in a long time and people are insisting to me that you have to admit it's a good movie.

It's not a good movie. The idea that it has any value, even technically, is literally Nazi propaganda that's just endured.

Here's a real clip:
