Great article! It's very odd, as I fully acknowledge it's not a good film, but it is a bizarre comfort watches for me. Perhaps because it was fairly ubiquitous on TV during the 80's! Remember watching it with my Dad a few times.

And I'm glad others too agree 2019's Midway is actually pretty decent!

Superb, bonkers epic from Paul Naschy, mixing his werewolf mythos with samurai fantasy action!

Some beautifully lit scenes that remind me of Mario Bava. The werewolf versus tiger scene alone is insane!

Loved it - truly one of Naschy's finest!
The Beast And The Magic Sword title card A witch brings the curse upon the Daninsky family... An evil witch attempts to bring the Werewolf under her control! Samurai / Scientist / Doctor Kian (Shigeru Amachi) fights ghosts to try and gain a solution to the Werewolf curse!

Ah yes, I remember those budget DVDs from Morrisons Alex! Those were the days! I'm sure there was a similar budget edition of Anthropophagus under its 'Grim Reaper' title. I used to chuckle at seeing that being sold alongside groceries! 🤣

Mario Bava's last film is a great change of pace, a creepy haunted house / psychological disintegration thriller.

Daria Nicolodi gives an excellent performance as the increasingly troubled Dora.

The Goblin-ish score from Libra enhances the disturbed and off-balance feel. Recommended!

On a bit of a Bava kick recently, and I've never seen Shock; so looking forward to it!

📀+🍺= Mario Bava's excellent Lisa and The Devil!

Another marvellous looking film from Bava, this one is definitely very surreal and dreamlike! Savalas turns in a very quirky and 'devilishly' fun performance! Recommended!

*Watched in its original cut - I've yet to watch 'The House of Exorcism' cut.
Lisa And The Devil title card Lisa views some strange figures on a very odd musical box... Leandro (Telly Savalas) has trouble getting any conversation out of some dummies... These dinner guests look a bit... stiff...! 😬

Some guitar wiring being soldered together very badly. 500k pots, orange drop capacitor, switchcraft switch. Braided and cloth push back wiring. The soldering all looks like bird muck 😭😅

Well, would you ever! I backed this project, a documentary on the making of Michael Mann's The Keep back in 2015. Yep, 10 years ago!

It'd been so long, I never thought it would actually get realised.

But this turned up today in the post! So credit to the creators for seeing it through! 👏
