So very excited to share this paper from a student who did a PhD with me and is now a 51Peg postdoc at Cornell. In her thesis, she predicted that a particular region of Europa would be covered in frozen(ish) CO2. In JWST data she finds: precisely that. 🔭🧪

twitter being basically unusable if you’re not logged in has made it much worse for sharing news/information. I used to send my less online friends and family tweet threads etc. all the time, but now they can’t see it. yet another way that Elon fundamentally misunderstands twitter’s appeal

the arc of this feels obvious. Twitter will bleed money for a while, and Musk will eventually sell what’s left of it for pennies on the dollar. He will loudly and publicly blame the previous management team as well as a conspiracy among woke advertisers.

Most of what web servers do is IO. Network mostly. Maybe disk. Most of that gpus are focused on is high parallelism and fast memory access. Just totally different beasts.
