this clip encapsulates so much of what has been wrong about MSM Trump coverage for the past decade -- treating Trump's lies and bigotry as a valid "side" of a debate instead of calling it out, because calling it out makes it seem as though you're biased
MSNBC reporter presents Trump's shameful racism towards Somalis as merely "a different view"

NEW: Pete Hegseth told an audience in a 2016 video that the military “won’t follow unlawful orders from their commander in chief,” and described the refusal of illegal commands as a part of the military’s ethos — a message he now condemns Democrats for spreading.

These North Korean-style butt-licking press conferences are just beyond farcical.

As set out in this thread, the causes of the court backlog are chronic lack of funding and absurd inefficiency.

The government has made no proposals to address either. Their answer is to remove juries.

Rather than fix the leaking roof, their solution is to burn the house down.
Here is a list of reasons why some of my hearings and trials this year have been delayed and kicked off into the long grass, stuck in our record court backlog. Serious allegations which will now be tried *years* after the event. 🧵👇

Kelly: He runs around on stage talking about lethality and the warrior ethos.. That’s not the message that should be coming from the Secretary of Defense… He runs around on a stage like he’s a 12 year old playing army. It’s embarrassing.

The negative impact of AI and social media on higher education, and on the education of young people more broadly, is immeasurable.
Furthermore, the implications for both pedagogy and the nature of academe are huge, and not in a good way.

Essential 🧵 from @jesbattis.bsky.social
An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

If Musk put his money into a basic UK savings account paying 4%, this is the interest he would earn:

Per year: £14.4 billion
Per day: £39.45 million
Per hour: £1.64 million

Just the interest = 370,000 average UK earners.

And he doesn't work interest.

And he wants to pay less tax.
It’s hard to imagine the vast fortune that is Elon’s net worth currently estimated at $476.4billion or £360billion. If it helps, someone on an average salary who wanted to save up this much would have to had started saving in the Miocene epoch 12 million years ago. (assuming they saved every penny)

🤬 Trump's threats to sue the BBC are paying off for him.
I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

This 👇 book is a thorough - and often distressing - account of the massacre. Recommended for anyone wishing to understand what happened, and why.
In fact, it should probably be compulsory reading for everyone everywhere.

“This Supreme Court has, frankly, a hostility to recognizing that race plays an important role in our community today, and that we are not yet a race blind society.”
A hard and heartbreaking truth.
As the U.S. Supreme Court contemplates whether the VRA has outlived its usefulness, having heard oral arguments in October questioning the constitutionality of the landmark law’s most vital remaining provision, the question of racism’s grip on America remains. www.democracydocket.com/analysis/the...
