Currently mainstream AI tools are, at best, a more flexible version of clip art, stack exchange code, and letter templates. To get more than that out of it you gotta be either playing with some super niche or doing some really weird stuff.

That said, LLMs and art generators have seen noticeable improvements in the last couple years. They’re gonna get better and better.

But the environmental impact is inexcusable. That needs to be addressed before anything else.

The best way I can describe the output is that it’s all flash with little-to-no substance. It all seems great, if you’re the type who hasn’t spent years/decades learning to create. But once you dive a little deeper into the AI output, you can see that it’s holier than Swiss cheese on a Sunday.

I’ve messed with generative AI for writing, illustration & music. The writing is bland and trope-filled. The art looks very polished, but lacks basic fundamentals like composition or anatomy. The music SOUNDS decent? But I’m not a musician, so I’m not sure I’m qualified to speak to the shortcomings

Maybe it’s just because I’ve been listening to you podcast for a decade so I’ve heard you say it over and over, but I feel like the phrase “it’s INSANE!” was used too often in the one video. Totally not a huge deal! Just maybe something to watch out for in future scripts. Or lean into it. :)
