I agree with Ian Garner as he counters the great Darth Putin. The one-liner about making us "believe in nothing" understates the calculated viciousness of Russian state propaganda. It is not primarily about neutering an opponent. It is about being on a spectrum between destruction and control.

This is categorically not the purpose of Russia’s propaganda. Russia’s propagandists want you to do plenty: undermine democracy, attack imagined enemies, and believe in fantasies.
The purpose of propaganda is not to make you believe something. It is to make you believe nothing. Then you will do nothing.
