Hello Bluesky. My name is Renee. I'm a retired 3D animator, married, mother of 3 young adults, crazy chicken lady, and pawma to an adorable pup. My education focused around illustration and graphic design. My passions are art and gardening. I garden on a 1/4 acre suburban lot. Glad to be here.
I have been an Independent since 1991, who has volunteered many hours of my time to help the Democrat party. This is long overdue. I blame the Democrats, as much as the Republicans, for the mess we are in.
"We’re done waiting for Dems to find their spine. We can’t afford a weak & cowardly Democratic Party while the authoritarians invade our cities, terrorize our communities, & threaten our democracy. We get the party we demand, & we intend to demand a Democratic Party that fights.” — @indivisible.org

SEATTLE!!!

We’ve now taken the lead by 91 votes! 🤯 This thing is certainly not over! Over 1,000 ballots have been challenged, so if you haven’t tracked your ballot yet get on it! Our trusty volunteers have been working hard to "cure" ballots so they count! We're so close!

🌱 It's difficult to see the good right now. People disappoint, but nature blesses us with beauty. This is Calendula, aka Pot Marigold. It is easy to seed. I don't even "plant" it - I pull the seed heads and sprinkle the seeds wherever I want the plants to naturalize. #bloomscrolling #garden #Zone8b

🌱 Shrub rose 'Emily Bronte' is not accepting that it is the 9th of November. I appreciate that some of my roses are still throwing occasional blooms despite the wet, cold, stormy weather. #bloomscrolling #Zone8b #rose #garden

The Seattle Mayor race is very close. Check those ballots!
Check your ballot. It’s possible that it’s been challenged due to leaving the ballot envelope unsigned or a signature mismatch. You can cure that with King County Elections so your ballot is counted! kingcounty.gov/en/dept/elec...

Happy Halloween! It's cold and wet here in the PNW. More than an inch of rain on this #Halloween evening isn't dampening spirits. We still have a lot of happy children out on the prowl for sweet treats and toys.

🌱 A few weeks back, a neighbor asked why I leave the roses to fade on my rose bushes. This is why. Beautiful Autumn and Winter color. Not all roses develop rose hips, but many do. #garden #Zone8b #bloomscrolling

🌱 The New England Aster is of those small shrubs that I tend to overlook, then Autumn arrives and I find myself wondering why I haven't planted them all around the gardens for Autumn interest. #bloomscrolling #garden #Zone8b

I needed to hear this advice today.
"If we lose hope, we're doomed."

We must continue Dr. Jane Goodall's mission and all fight for the future of the planet.

Kimmel is back in Seattle.

He should never have been pulled from the air in the first place, but glad to see Sinclair reverse course. Thank you to all who spoke out for free speech.

I watched a young person maintain a positive attitude despite changes by three CEOs while working at a non-union Starbucks. They resigned, while maintaining a positive attitude, shortly after the latest CEO took the position. It would be in Starbucks best interest to listen to their employees.
BREAKING: Starbucks just announced a $1 billion restructuring and will close 59 unionized stores — nearly 10% of union locations.

It includes the Roastery in Seattle, one of its busiest shops.

CEO Brian Niccol made $100 million in four months last year.

🌱 'Lady of Shallot' making a showing again. She's my favorite rose, and she's still covered in blooms. The flowers are beginning to fade. Soon I will start the process of defoliating all of my roses to help prevent black spot through the rainy season. #blookscrolling #garden #Zone8b

TL;DR: Be intentional. Find your community, and control your algorithm(s). I left Twitter in the winter of 2022 after about 15 years as a power user. During the intervening years I’ve learned a lot ab...

📚 I bought 'Facing the Fracture' by Tania Israel, PhD a month ago. Despite good intentions, news cycles kept derailing me, and found myself not wanting to learn to how to deal with extremist personalities. It may be time I take a break from news, stay off social, and power through this #book.

🎨 When we visited the Shultz museum, we learned they were able to remove house paint to reveal a mural that Schultz had painted. During the pandemic, we painted out my murals so that the kids wouldn't be embarrassed when they were on camera. Could the paint be stripped? #Disney #fan #art

🌱 Feeling sad that I'm enjoying the final flushes of the season. This floribunda rose is called 'Poseidon'. My phone automatically updated, and now my photos aren't true to color. Gotta figure the new camera settings out - but, IRL, this rose looks more lavender, than pink. #bloomscrolling #Zone8b
