I'm cooking a whole duck today. First time. Bit nervous as the only recipe I really liked was from a Michelin star restaurant so I'm winging it a bit and doing a combination of that recipe and another less complex one. We'll see how it turns out in an a couple of hours.

My mother in law is now trying to make a "surprise" pie for tomorrow, but she has no idea where anything is in my kitchen and no idea how to work our appliances so I'm doing 75% of the actual prep 100% against my will.

I know people are going to revel in the schadenfreude here, but this is really just an admission—given how close the House is split—that they’re just mad it didn’t work. Fewer than a dozen House GOPers could change America tomorrow. That they’re not proves this is just about losing, not principles.

DOGE was created for data theft and infrastructure dismantling and it wildly succeeded on both counts within the first few weeks of its existence. It will take a generation to rebuild what it destroyed and the breach of data is unprecedented.

If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."
There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

The important thing to bear in mind as Trump's popularity begins to wobble is that the disastrous economic consequences of the things he's done in the first 10 months of this term have not even *begun* to hit. We've been coasting on the fumes of the economy he inherited and soon they'll be gone.
