🙌 A legislative win for survivors!

The European Parliament, Council, and the European Commission have now explicitly recognised victims of core international crimes in the revised Victims’ Rights Directive.

This is a meaningful step toward a more inclusive, survivor-centred approach to justice.

⚖️ Egypt’s “virginity tests” amount to torture.

The African Commission has ruled that forced genital exams on two women protesters constituted torture. It has called on #Egypt to end the practice, hold perpetrators accountable, and compensate survivors.

Peru’s National Court convicted three police officers of aggravated torture and sexual violence, sentencing them to 17 years in prison and awarding reparations.

Gurpreet's brother, Jagtar Singh Johal, was violently arrested in India 8 years ago and has been arbitrarily detained in India ever since - despite a court acquitting him in one of the nine cases against him.

No family should have to fight this long.

We welcome the release of 100+ prisoners in Belarus, incl. Nobel Peace Prize laureate Ales Bialiatski, following talks involving US sanctions relief.

A vital humanitarian step, but repression continues. Justice and accountability must not be sacrificed. All political prisoners must be freed.
