This week, the Senate will vote on Democrats' clean, three-year extension of the ACA tax credits.

Republicans have a choice: stop health insurance premiums from skyrocketing or abandon their constituents.

Chagrin Falls is always so beautiful over the holiday season! I grew up there and would go down there often to walk on the rocks by the falls. It is a unique spot, with the Underground Railroad part of its history.

I will say over and over again that us library folk need to be louder in our support of the Post Office. Because guess what—if they start thinking of USPS in terms of“making” or “losing” money, libraries won’t be far behind.
The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

When you buy into the USPS as a business losing money, you are buying into losing these other public services:

-libraries
-public schools
-fire/EMT/911
-public transportation
-senior services
-public utilities
-roads & infrastructure

And MORE...

Public good costs very little for the benefits.

The last three months have been exceptionally busy. I survived the demise of B&T and reordered MONTHS of cancelled orders in Ingram. I reviewed several YA & some MG for Booklist. I ran a writing workshop at my library with ideas & prompts for Glimmer Journals with very engaged attendees. #kidlitchat
TOPIC: It's quarterly check-in time! Time to bask in the accomplishments of the last three months--or breathe a sigh of relief that you've managed to *get through* the past three months. Either way, share what's been going, career-wise, since September! #kidlitchat

What’s the worst question someone can ask after you tell them your profession? For linguists, it’s definitely “how many languages do you speak?”, but I’m curious what else is happening to the rest of y’all out there?!
