Back in sunny Wales after my first ever #birding trip abroad. Had a great time and saw lots of new birds but the highlight for me was a pair of hoopoes that were often hanging around just outside the hotel.

This close-up photograph captures an Eurasian Hoopoe (Upupa epops) foraging on the ground among dry grasses and twigs. The bird is facing slightly left, showcasing its distinctive features: a long, slender black bill, a sandy-pinkish-buff body, and a magnificent crest of feathers that is partially raised, displaying black tips on the upper feathers. The lower part of the body and tail feathers show striking black and white barring.
This is a photograph of a Hoopoe bird, easily identifiable by its distinctive fanned, orange-tipped crest and long, slender bill. The bird has a pale, sandy-brown body with bold black and white stripes across its wings. It's standing on the ground, likely foraging.

Today's #BirdOfTheDay is going to be all about 'Sea Birds' and the Alternative will be 'Robins'.

So here's a pair of Herring Gulls, Fulmar European Shag & Bridled Guillemot captured on the Inner Farne Cruise off the Northumberland Coast.
