As predicted I fell right off of Blue sky the moment things in life got a bit hectic.

They still are. Just showing I have a pulse.

Now to wake up a cranky sexagenarian to make her take her pills, eat, and do physio exercises before her doctor's appointment.

I just won Sunderfolk by Dreamhaven. I enjoyed the game and it definitely has replay value, which is necessary for a short game. Though I still regret getting it for the Switch. It would have been better on the PC I think.

Went to social at a farm the other day, and there was this cute baby powder puff masquerading as a bunny.

It is finally May. Now for me to get busy (and probably posting here less) as I help prepare my mother for knee replacement surgery. I'm not the healthiest person myself, but I'll be the one taking care of her. Fingers crossed we make it through without attempted murder.

I don't generally talk politics. But I have to say I am relieved that the federal election in Canada is finally over. But now I don't know what to expect from our new Prime Minister, due to his lack of history in actual politics. It could go either way. I'll remain cautiously optimistic for now.

I would have been writing if I hadn't gotten too distracted by playing #videogames today. Well, and cleaning the bathroom.

I have ben playing Sunderfolk with my sister. Just kicking myself for getting it on the Switch, which makes it nearly impossible to remote play.

"Pajamas" comes from Persian "pay-jameh," meaning "leg garment." They were originally loose-fitting pants for lounging.

Sometimes I think I enjoy editing my stories more than writing them. So when I see other authors bemoan the task, I just keep quiet and smile quietly to myself.

With that in mind, back to editing my 5th (technically my 6th but the first draft is lost to me) draft of Waiting For Sunrise.

One day I will bother commissioning a proper cover artist. For now I just have my free photo editor. Although similar to the previous cover, I tweaked this a bit. Some still say it looks like a romance cover, but I refuse to give up the silhouette.

If anyone is interested, the first draft of my short story can be found here:

docs.google.com/document/d/1...

I am long-winded so writing a story under 2,500 words was indeed a challenge. Then again, writing posts on here is a challenge as well.

#writers #writingCommunity Well I didn't win the short story contest. But I got some nice feedback and death threats. So I consider that a plus.

Soon the results of the community short-story contest I entered will be in. Already know I won't even get in the top 3. But I am still eager for the reveal, and have learned a lot about the community by reading the other submissions.

Next time I shall tailor my story better.

Drat. Usually editing will get me in the mood for writing something new but it just isn't working today.

Talking to someone else got me thinking about #mentalhealth. Sometimes we think nothing will help. I used to think that too. Some things don't have a cure, but it isn't hopeless. There are ways to increase resilience. Adjust expectations, and you can improve. And any progress is good. Be patient.

I am sort of here, though some family stuff is still keeping most of my attention.

But soon I hope to start writing again, before I use up my backlog of Wishing for Spring. Need to guide my vampires along their post-apocalyptic journey.

Welp. Family problems will probably cause me to fall off the internet for a bit. It was nice knowing you!

I'm fuelled up on an idea for my next chapter, but I am also really, really intent on finishing a spreadsheet project of mine.

The struggles of having several hobbies and limited energy.

Instead of vanishing into the world of my writing, I am going to be responsible, load up my spreadsheet, and update my finances. Manually. Because I want to make myself cry.

Been a slow few days. But I did get a chapter written. Now I'm stumped how to get into the meaty bits planned for the next chapter.

Spent a day in agony yesterday that kept me from the computer. Oddly, it wasn't so bad.

But I'm back. I always come back.

Someone help me.

(But don't, really).

Happy birthday to me. Cake is balanced on a bottle (because angle food cake needs to spend some time upside down) and I'm taking the day off of writing.

Woke up this morning with a scene playing in my head of characters in my current novel arguing. After being in a slump this was just what I needed to get going again.

But instead of write it down immediately, I waited until evening and can't remember half of what I'd imagined earlier.

It's been a while since I did a thorough beta read of a new writer's stuff. Feels good to be helpful, and better I was able to discuss some of their writing weaknesses and still have a laugh.

Saw this boy on my deck this morning. Must be #Caturday.

He lives next door. It's cool.

Yay! novelizing.com finally has the ability to favourite/follow stories.

In other news I write myself into a corner with some continuity errors and now have to go back an untangle it before I can move forward.
