35 years ago this week (this past Saturday) the Berlin Wall came down. Over the months and years that followed, tens of millions of people in Eastern Europe gained or regained freedoms.

Today we're seeing a march of authoritarianism around the world. I, for one, do not think it will last. (1/2)

Donald Trump ordering his Attorney General to prosecute his enemies, on Truth Social. Seems he meant to text or DM her.

It's all out in the open. The corruption. The assault on freedom of speech. The weaponizing of the DOJ to prosecute his enemies, even when no crime can be found. All right there.

Last year, the Supreme Court ruled that government officials can't use legal coercion as a way to punish or suppress speech. The decision was unanimous. What Trump and Carr did broke the law and violated the First Amendment rights of multiple parties.

I didn't want Charlie Kirk's killer to be a liberal, but that's where we are*. Two excerpts from the charging document.

Full document linked below.

* - Unless you believe law enforcement is just outright lying here, which seems unlikely, as this will become evidence in the case.

It's completely appropriate to criticize extreme things said by leaders and prominent people on the other side.

It's incredibly corrosive to amplify and dunk on extremist nobodies on the other side.

Liberal friends posting that the killer is MAGA or a Groyper: Wait for real info. And understand that it's unlikely.

1. Registered 'unaffiliated'.

2. Casings had anti-Nazi, anti-fascist slogans.

3. Family member says the kid saw Kirk as full of hate and spreading hate.

Everyone with a platform right now should be condemning political violence of all stripes, and particularly from their own side. Fanning the flames here - on either side - is an act of encouraging further political violence. We have to stop this cycle, not feed it.

RIP, Charlie Kirk.

Annual births in the US peaked in 2007 and have been dropping since. After 2025, most forecasts are that we'll see high school graduating classes start shrinking. America needs immigrants. One day, perhaps, we'll wake up to that fact.

Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.
