BREAKING: We won!

Today the 3rd Circuit Court ordered the @post-gazette.com to restore our contract it illegally tore up 5 years ago. That’s our health care, PTO, right to a 40-hr. work week, short-term disability and so much more we’ve struck for 3+ years.

@victor-matheson.bsky.social hi there! I've sent an email as well - but hoping to get in touch for Canada's public broadcaster. I'm at [email protected] if you have a chance to connect!

Just to be blunt, if you want Wired and 404 and The Verge to employ reporters who understand the memes on bullet casings and can connect them to gaming culture while having the legal and support resources to deal with waves of harassment when we do it… you have to subscribe and pay for the work
the entire media ecosystem is just not built or ready for events like this and far right billionaires like larry ellison buying news orgs will only make this worse

CBC News was the first outlet to uncover the owner of Fairweather and International Clothiers is the likely operater of a new Zellers in North Edmonton.

Yup! Zellers is back. AGAIN. At Londonderry Mall! (?)

I mean admittedly this was the basis of one of the best episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Stardate 46125.

But also ... in that episode, the Dyson Sphere was defective and caused an older ship to crash and trapped the Enterprise. So, I mean, yeah. Not a great idea there either.
a “dyson sphere around the whole solar system” is the dumbest goddam thing ive ever heard holy shit
The people dominating our political landscape, culture, and economy are just so stupid and full of shit it's almost impossible to describe

Chatted about AOL on CBC's "Your World Tonight" this evening.

Got to say the following on national broadcasts:

"It's true, there was a whole 1998 movie about AOL, dial-up, and love."

"Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks probably don't use dial-up anymore."

Journalism, truly. CBC News has learned.
So apparently we are within the last 60 days of dial-up AOL being a thing.

Revising data is commonplace in statistical analysis of national data
The “revised down” numbers are just an admission of lies that they carried to pass the most destructive bill in recent history. Energy prices climbing, student loan processing up, healthcare cost increasing, and food. Now new tariffs. He builds a $200M tacky ballroom. This is the New Gilded Age.

Things we don’t want:

Extreme wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, and the wealthy paying a lower rate than working Canadians.

Things we do want:

A truly progressive tax system where those that benefit the most from gov’t spending pay the tab, and an economy that works for everyone.

I talked to a lot of wealthy Canadians for this story. On one side, those who say they should pay more. On the other, those who say you tax what you DON’T want. So do you tax wealth?

This story could be apocryphal - I genuinely don't know, "CBC News has not learned" so to speak. But it's entirely possible, and is a great illustration of how economic systems react in ways that could surprise you waaaaaay down the line.
I was thinking about this Joe and Tracy anecdote from the supply chain crisis on gummy bears. Things are probably going to get really weird in a few weeks in unexpected ways:
