a good part of me thinks that in addition to everything else, the reason they are scrubbing these stories is they do not want disadvantaged kids to believe they can aspire to anything other than their designated “black” or “hispanic” or “woman” job

The truth of Covid in the US, namely that we had refrigerator trucks full of bodies driving around New York City and buried people three deep and more than .5% of all people over 65 *just died* while the president encouraged his idiot minions to beat up old Korean ladies, is too much for many people
just a weird level of unreality where the pandemic lockdowns are cast as the equivalent of The Factory Closed To Save The Spotted Owls and not "hospitals were on the brink of collapse because so many people were getting sick and dying at once of the disease we don't have a treatment of vaccine for"
