- it sends 5V and 13V DC to the logic board (not pictured) and something like 130V for the LED screen. Somehow the rectification is primarily on HOT side, but I’m a little unclear how you can send DC voltage across the transformers, though — i think i saw something about pulse width modulation?
- you see the big line dividing “HOT” from “COLD”? HOT is connected to wall power. COLD is electrically isolated from HOT with the power transferred across the two yellow-taped transformers. That means COLD isn’t grounded to earth ground, but to the metal TV chassis.
it’s a samsung led tv. i couldn’t find a service manual but i found the schematic for this board. a few random things i’ve learned: - those big metal rectangles are heatsinks, attached to the transformers. they look like shelves inside, i guess to have more surface area to dissipate heat.

Not crazy though if you think of a floating-point number as representing the interval of real numbers that round to that float. For a number that big with only 23 bits of precision, you actually don’t know sin(x) to any precision.
