Started reading Life for Sale. My first Yukio Mishima novel is about a man whose suicide attempt fails, quits his job and then advertises his life for sale to anyone for anything at any price. I'm only 3 chapters in but it's amusing. First offer is a guy wanting his wife killed. #booksky
Yeah I don't even look at the beef section these days. No point.

Canadian retail beef price hits record high, forcing some shoppers to ditch steak
That juicy lunchtime burger may soon be out of reach thanks to record-high beef prices. As Shelley Joyce reports, the searing market is showing no sign of cooling down.

Family histories are complicated + can be murky. I have friends who foster kids with unclear indigenous roots. It's difficult to prove to the government they're indigenous. But the difference is those kids aren't growing up to say they're indigenous + making money off it.

I don't know if I've ever watched a Woody Allen film. In a world where there are more movies being produced than ever, there's no reason to ever watch his films. He has problems securing distribution? He makes a film every year or other year. He's not hurting in any way.
In 2019, Scarlett Johansson told THR about Woody Allen: “I love Woody. I believe him, and I would work with him anytime.”

In a recent interview Johansson was asked about going to bat for Allen in that THR piece and how she handled the “inevitable online furore.” bit.ly/4oo0sWT

I should not be allowed to go to the grocery store after day drinking.

My daughter is working on a film project with her friends and she is finding out that most of them don't care. They haven't prepared anything. She wrote the script, did the filming, and is now editing it. She's finding out that, like the workplace, a small percentage of folks are carrying the rest.

Now that my dog's reactivity is under control, I am really enjoying being able to walk down the street and not be the one to have to cross to the other side of the street to avoid anything. Everyone else with a dog seems to move aside.

This is what it must feel like to be a white man.

Covers of Hallelujah bore me. They're overdone and none come close to the majesty of the original. But this is the only cover I enjoy, by local, Nanaimo born Allison Crowe.

They voted for Trump by over 50 points in the election and even after he took their clinic away they voted for the Republican incumbent for the Virginia House.

You can't fix stupid. I feel bad for the people who didn't vote Trump but that's as far as my sympathy goes.

The kids and I did our annual Christmas rewatch of The Lord of the Rings films starting with The Hobbit. Despite having seen these films six times and loving them, my youngest is still scared of Gollum when he's nasty. But she thinks Sméagol is cute. It shows the quality of the performance + the CGI

One of the things I enjoy about social media is seeing how people in other countries live, specifically their food. There are so many things we won't eat in our society because it looks funky or it's too fatty or whatnot and we waste so much. But we could be doing so much better.

Speaking of, it's been a couple weeks since I showed Monty Python and the Holy Grail to my kids and my oldest is still talking about it. She just adores it. Which clearly proves I am winning at parenting.
