America has seen 13 deaths from whooping cough this year, along with the largest measles outbreak since it was declared eliminated in 2000 — all thanks to RFK Jr.’s war on vaccines. From Ryan Cooper:

This sounds like another CBS town hall in the making. Surrounded by some insipid, "see how good things happen when we all talk to each other" dialogue
One more example of "the Woke Right" narrative, where the right tries to frame members who have gone too far as actually sort of leftist. In Fuentes case, it is the overt nature of the anti-semitism. Dreher has no problem working for a govt whose leader (Orban) engages in dog-whistle anti-semitism.

One of the great failures of contemporary political news coverage in a lot of media is the unspoken principle that no violation of norms or decency by Trump is really news, worthy of sustained attention, unless it also upsets people who love him. It isn't "not taking the bait"; it's sleepwalking.

The NYT waited three hours after Trump's Reiner outburst to add the tiniest of updates to its coverage of the story, and it only did so after the NY Post and a few GOP types spoke out about it. It wasn't news until "even those on the right" were upset.

The WaPo still has nada, far as I can see.

A New York Times review of President Biden's actions on immigration showed that decisions he and his closest advisers made created an opening for a more aggressive Trump administration agenda.

President Joseph R. Biden Jr. and his top advisers rejected recommendations that could have eased the border crisis that helped return Donald J. Trump to the White House.

When we started studying online rumoring during crises (~2013), we mostly focused on this type of rumor: accidental, but w/ potential for great harm. Except we anticipated origins in "unofficial" sources. The idea that rumors like these would be seeded by a sitting President never crossed our minds.
