Just watch the first 2 episodes of #plur1bus
Wow! It pays homage to many Sci fi tropes... but does not lean on them. In fact, I would say it turns them on their heads.

A MUST watch.
Not to compare , but it had big blue door meets foundation vibes. Close in characters with huge potential scope

Today's #vim discovery/ useful tip:
Not sure if your yaml files are indentations line up? Need a quick doublechack ?

:set cursorcolumn

You get a vertical highlight that let's you see if your attributes are lined up.

Well done Python Software Foundation!

Says no 1..5 mil grant from NSF with terms like "if the PSF was found to have violated that anti-DEI diktat, the NSF reserved the right to claw back any previously disbursed funds,"

Big fan of no kings day.
Boo yaa, everyone!

Quick followup, though. Can we get a sense of how it is playing in areas that voted for trump? Because at the end of the day, that's the only thing that the gop care about.

Student gets GREAT grades on the exams and the simulation exercises but fails HARD on the actual hands on labs.

Anyone have some quick advice on how to bridge a qemu/KVM vm to a usb lan port using libvirt? #qemu #linux?
Hoping to spin up 2 vms on different networks, connect to a switch with 2 vlans, trunk to the router sub interfaces and get successful pings.

enshitification is real
"It’s not just you. The internet is getting worse, fast. The services we rely on, that we once loved? They’re all turning into piles of shit, all at once. Ask any Facebook user who has to scroll past 10 screens of engagement-bait, AI slop and surveillance ads just to get to one post."

What ntp service have you configed?
Email?
FTP?
Backup?
Network log server?
DNS?
Firewall?
LDAP?

Curious what others are using and why

At the suggestion of @t3kg33k.bsky.social, I gave #Gitea a try. Installed and setup with admin and a user, faux organization and several projects. I'm a member of one project and cloned project to home dir and access with VSCode.
Totally viable for my use case.
Thanks!

Not for nothing, as much as systemd IS an improvement from init and tools from that era, I will admit I DO miss the emphasis on terse -x flags. There is a certain elegance to single letter flags.

Progress!! Have a minimal functioning gitlab server setup on my laptop to test. Ultimate goal. Have fellow tech instructors create own labs in a shared space and not have students just search for a video of a specific lab. If they do use AI, it's in a good way, as a sounding board.
