If you also stop to think about it our jobs carry all sorts of expenses that can easily make the job cost YOU money!
So we're not only NOT taking our time off, we're paying our jobs to do the work. 😱 Make it make sense!

You should never believe that your work emails are yours! The institution can do whatever they want with them.
NEW—US Department of Education sent out standard Out of Office language to employees on Wednesday in light of shutdown. Later yesterday, workers tell me they found someone had updated their auto-responses without consent to a new one blaming Democrats.

I spend a lot of time helping faculty & future faculty prepare for the landmines of academia. So far on this site, I've read stories about someone getting nasty & unnecessary comments from a reviewer, someone not being "allowed" to be chair, and obituary sponsorship.

When I was a student I was on work study. It got me connected to campus & made a huge campus feel small. I can't imagine the betrayal these students are feeling right now. On top of the threats to their access from the fed gov, this has to be so stressful. www.insidehighered.com/news/student...

My mom who has #Alzheimers fell & broke her eye socket 😞 the trip to the ER was infuriating. She was there for 8 hours, I was there for 7.5 hrs & if I wasn't there to speak up for her, they wouldn't have stopped the bleeding, changed her, or given her pain meds on site or an RX for pain meds.
