mods asleep post Trans Popeye
Popeye in a pretty dress walking down a cliff side with his horse, saying "CAREFUL - HORSH - IT'S STEEP - WE'RE GOIN' DOWN INTO BLACK VALLEY NOW" A cruel man and his henchman -- the hench says "Boss, that gal I was tellin' you about got a job at the 'Thirst-Killer' dancin'" while the man says "SO? HMMM..."

Meanwhile, Popeye is in an incredibly short skirt and tank top, with one of his legs so far behind his back that you can't see it, saying "HERE'S A STEP I LEARN'T WHEN I WAS IN THE FOLLIES. ME LEF' LEG IS STRAIGHT OUT IN BACK OF ME" The tough guy, at Popeye in his short skirt, saying exasperatedly "YOU DISH-FACED, SCRAWNY, LITTLE, ONE-EYED, HALF-WITTED SPECK OF DIRT - I SAID - WILL YOU MARRY ME?"

To which Popeye replies, in a cutie-pie pose, "I wouldn't marry no man wich is willin' to marry a gal as arful as I yam!"

There was a guy offering everyone free bibles outside of the school today. He turned to me, ready to make his pitch, and when he saw me the light in his eyes went out and he turned back around without a word 🤣. I'm keeping this as motivation for next time I'm too lazy to touch up my hair color.

it would be funny if the iambic Shakespeare plays were musicals and we just don't have the sheets so we put on a serious voice and try to make the lyrics sound like talking

If one wonders why I’m dour looking at any Japanese live service game, it’s because I’m THAT specific person who will get the urge to play a 15+ year old game again, and I like it actually existing when I look it up.

Gacha Gamers nowadays don't know when licensed games used to be REAL video games

A PSP title that would get a 7/10 across from every reviewer is going to live in your brain for the next decade because it PERFECTLY fused Ace Combat and Armored Core control schemes together

Plus Klan Klang is there

The Realms of Arkania games have a special place in my heart, especially the first one, Blade of Destiny. The Amiga version was my first experience of an open-world, free-roaming CRPG and became one of my core experiences in the genre.

Enough that I cobbled together my own TTRPG version of it.
A gameplay snap of the 3D texture mapped medieval fantasy polygon town of Riva that takes up a 2/3rds of the screen.

For the Shadow of the Colossus story, we interviewed 14 people including project leads Fumito Ueda and Kenji Kaido, hired Gravity Rush concept artist Takeshi Oga to illustrate the cover, and put together a 10,000-word story with help from @milkman.bsky.social @shmuplations.bsky.social and others.

🟠this is one of those things we totally lose with how segmented the modern world is and how enshittified cause it used to be different subcultures would overlap all the time like there was a bunch of overlap between the computer geeks, the mind expansion hippies, counter cultural rock

🌹the thing is I think Tron reflects more than just "computers are magic" like that's sort of a pithy statement we cooked up to excise the real spiritualism that overlapped with the computer movement because we're so tech bro saturated now we can't imagine anything else? All of which is text

🌹even the idea of the programs looking like their programmers is a reflection of these values that were being stamped out, that a program was an act of personal creation and would reflect it's creator instead of just being a product built by a faceless corporation

🌹like Tron may not be cyberpunk visual but PHILOSOPHICALLY it is such a clear progenitor of it, SO much of Tron is about the dying days of personal freedom to compute that's why the main conflict is about the MCP of this huge corporation taking power away from the individual
