There's literally already money allocated for SNAP/EBT in case of problems like this. Not funding it/not allowing those funds to be used is just wanton cruelty and economic abuse.

When people talk about Social Security, they usually mean the program of earned benefits from working.

There's another program, SSI. SSI is a need-based, means-tested program. It has much stricter rules than Social Security.
