Yeah the bethsoft games get close sometimes, and they have their own distinct lootfeel (and it's world class)

For my money FO4 has maybe the most satisfying lootfeel of any AAA since U7

Ok a friend of mine is playing Ultima 7 right now so that's why I keep posting about it.

This UI is so awful and gorgeous and perfect, it's a masterwork of wasting your time for the pleasures of digging through a pile of dirty laundry looking for a tiny magic ring. Dig dig dig diiing there it is.

I don't think there was a morality system in Ultima 7, other than iolo getting really upset.

My answer mostly comes down to the tactile UI and gorgeous pixel art but it goes beyond that too

Hoe of destruction, but the door was locked with a key that you had to find inside a dead fish in a pile of trash by the lake! One of the many reasons looting felt so good, you actually had to rummage!
