He really cracked the code that you just state your crimes out loud, without an ounce of shame or embarrassment, and there are no repercussions. Guilt is for suckers.
Trump: "It's been an interesting day from the standpoint of news. As you probably know, we've just seized a tanker on the coast of Venezuela. Largest one ever seized actually. And other things are happening."

The argument “Dems gotta be moderate, cuz it’s what The People want” drives me nuts. True, the vast swath of voters aren’t wildly liberal. But if you look at the specifics of their preferences, it’s wildly inconsistent.
This exchange drives me nuts. Neither the interviewer nor Bazelon acknowledges that 1) abortion rights are really popular! and 2) what ICE is doing is hugely unpopular!

Absolutely! If a movie I want to see isn’t streaming, first thing I do is check to see if the library has a DVD. (Also, my library gives free access to Kanopy and Hoopla.)
“As prices for streaming subscriptions continue to soar and finding movies to watch, new and old, is becoming harder as the number of streaming services continues to grow, people are turning to the unexpected last stronghold of physical media: the public library.”

For example, the Lord Peter Wimsey series with Ian Carmichael isn’t streaming anywhere, but my library has the DVD set.

Possibly the only thing more freakish than Nuzzi's prose is the contortions her defenders twist themselves into. "She's not just hot, but she definitely is hot, while also being a vulnerable smol child. Also, criticizing her is sexist."
@anamariecox.bsky.social I was wondering if you caught Tim Miller’s interview with ON, because the last 15-ish minutes are entirely focused on writing process and it seemed like your jam.

This great thread captures one of my biggest pet peeves, the myth that Rosa Parks was this sweet lady who one random day was too tired to move. America’s classrooms are filled with children’s books spreading this story. (Also, b.s. portrayals of the First Thanksgiving, but that’s for another day.)
Today is the 70th anniversary of Rosa Parks' arrest. Six myths: 1) She wasn't old or tired. 42 years old that day, she had a "life history of being rebellious" & had spent two decades helping to turn the Montgomery NAACP into a more activist branch alongside ED Nixon and Johnnie Carr.

Please send good vibes and/or prayers to my buddy Nathan Rabin, who's in the hospital recovering after a car accident Thanksgiving evening. He needs to stop lounging around & get back to promoting his new book THE FRACTURED MIRROR. You should order it right now!

@luxxury.bsky.social Oh, duh. You plugged the radio show at the end of the D’Angelo episode (which I Judy finished listening to). Also, bless you for playing “Gidget Goes to Hell.” 💜
