Hello to animation tuesday! 😉 This 👇 animation is the outcome of the work I did for our publication of the human prohibitin complex. Moddeled a mitochondrion and animated one of my beloved flythroughs, et voilà 🥰

What a nice sight to wake up to 😊🌀
The amazing work of @cellarchlab.com, @florentwaltz.bsky.social and their team made it on the cover of @science.org and I had the honor to create the visuals!

I hope you like this ATP (animated title page 😉 you see what I did there?).
In a new Science study, cryo–electron tomography captures the in-cell architecture of the mitochondrial respiratory chain, illuminating how the coordinated action of molecular machines drives life’s fundamental energy conversion.

I'm happy that our publication about the structure of the human prohibitin complex is finally out! 👉 rdcu.be/eeNzl

This animation did not make it into the paper...but it is the model shown in Fig. 5! 🥰

And yes, I like Flythroughs!

I wanted to have some fun with one of our data sets from reconstructed FIB-SEM measurements.
So far, this is my only character animation, a bit janky, but I love this little guy 🥰

And yes: YOU are awesome!

Have a nice weekend!

Microscopy Nodes is now up on bioRxiv! 🚀

This is a Blender extension that seamlessly integrates and visualizes 3D microscopy data (TIF & @zarr.dev).

High-quality volume rendering for anyone, in both EM and fluorescence, regardless of computational expertise! 🔬

With some more time spend learning #Blender and another steep learning curve for #DaVinciResolve, I created this little animation, showing the architecture of mitochondrial cristae in a yeast cell.

After that, I was hooked and followed the now classic doughnut tutorial from BlenderGuru Andrew Price (is he on here 🦋?) to learn even more #Blender.

A trip down memory lane: Years ago, we got FIB-SEM data from yeast mitochondria and I had a bit of free time. Some hours of learning #Blender later I rendered out my very first animation 😄

I was laughing so hard, when i saw and HEARD this animation...obviously we have the same taste in background music 😁😊

Reconstruction of mitochondrial inner and outer membrane from FIB-SEM data. Had to shorten the vid bc of 🦋-limits.
