In 9 days, Illinoisans will receive their updated health insurance premiums for 2026.

Because of Republican inaction, those premiums will be more than 100% higher than they were this year. Who can afford their premium doubling in one year?

Another PR pro tip (inspired by yet another interaction this week): If you know someone has a week of back-to-back interviews, don't call and don't leave a voicemail saying "Nothing urgent. Call me. Or I can email you." No, honey. I'm not returning a call that should have been an email.
Just had a fun and productive interview where the subject had such a good time she said it was like a conversation, not an interview and I could call her anytime. About anything. This is why I don't do pop-quiz style interviews.
Two interviews down. One coming at the top of the hour, and another two hours later.
I have a few family members who can sleep anywhere at anytime. One Thanksgiving or Christmas at least five people were napping on the same sectional.
Ack! Already time for me to get ready for the crush of interviews. Have good week, everyone!

I am jealous of those who can nap. My mind won't slow down enough to sleep unless I'm exhausted or sick. Which is why I'm a night owl.

One thing I'm trying to do is save an hour, or even half hour, each day to work on scripts. Ideas always seem to hit when I'm super busy with work-work. Just started a new script the other day! #FreelanceFriends
My morning routine is pretty consistent. I know my focus for writing is better in the afternoon, so I check email and do admin tasks in the morning, try to do interviews mid-day when possible, but try to stay flexible. #FreelanceFriends
This is a basic tomato-based soup with green beans, chard, onion, carrot, celery, and garlic. I tossed in some garbanzo beans for fun. And flavored it with Herbs de Provence. (Could have gone Italian instead.) #FreelanceFriends
Sadie says hi, #FreelanceFriends! She's been helping me knit a baby blanket for our friend's baby who's due in two months.
This tends to me more about getting into the weeds. I don't need tons of detailed info about your services to write up a 100-150 word blurb. #FreelanceFriends
I even worked in what I think is the last of the Swiss chard from my little garden. #FreelanceFriends
Great minds! I made one of those "What do I have that will work together" kinds of soups to go with the bread. #FreelanceFriends
Most are pretty short, but now and then I have to gently guide people back on topic. #FreelanceFriends
That's not a pumpkin. It's outdoor furniture! #FreelanceFriends
I'm Paula. This week I'm a writer, scriptwriter, ghostwriter, interviewer, scheduler, and break baker.

I only have a few minutes before I have to do the first (of four) interviews today, with the second right on its heels.

Pro top for publicists: When setting an interview provide a way for the interviewer to contact your client. And don't expect them to "hop on the phone" when they've already explained they have back-to-back interviews pretty much every day of the week.

AZ AG Mayes: If I have to, I’ll take Speaker Johnson to court. There's no legitimate reason for him to refuse to swear her in right now. And it's not fair for Mike Johnson to be holding the state of Arizona hostage because he doesn't want to release the Epstein files.

Donald Trump is not a king — and his administration is not above the law.

Today, the court confirmed what we all know: there is no credible evidence of a rebellion in the state of Illinois.

And no place for the National Guard in the streets of American cities like Chicago.
