If you did an obituary on Charlie Kirk that was just quoting directly in context what he was most proud of saying and doing, a lot of editors would say to revise it because it would read as being mean to a dead man

Audiobooks are great because they satisfy the part of me that wants to stay up doing things I enjoy while also putting me to sleep (which is what I actually need)

My latest #rails project is probably the most fun I’ve ever had programming. And also one of the most challenging/ambitious projects I’ve ever undertaken. Will hopefully write some words somewhere on the internet about it soon-ish

There was a period of my life where I did a lot of surfing (mostly in the Outer Banks) and really loved it. Now as a developer, I sometimes find myself thinking about what life might look like if AI renders my job obsolete… and I mostly just hope it involves surfing more again 😆

This is a good strategy - hand-roll tests and observability so you can understand what your app is doing. This is a good practice always regardless of AI.
But it does result in yet another fun thing AI is taking away from us. I like writing code a lot more than testing or setting up DataDog e.g.

This can happen with any AI agent… or human developer!
A BIG difference w AI agents: they will write more code, faster than before, and ship a LOT more code to prod! So ship more bugs as well.
Software engineers (not AI engineers) will build o11y solutions to solve for this!

💡 I feel like having a local (ie. completely offline) LLM would be insanely valuable in basically any survival/doomsday situation. Near-instantaneous advice for any predicament you could find yourself in.

Wild to me that there are so many democrats out there that still think, after this past election, that sticking to the status quo would be a recipe for success 🤦🏻♂️
@aoc.bsky.social and @sanders.senate.gov's rallies have been so successful that it's "worrying some moderate Democrats who fear Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez could tug the party to the left."

What the Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez mega-rallies are really about
The two progressives are bringing energy to a party that has been exhausted and furious in the second Trump era.

I need a modern-day pager that lets me leave behind my iPhone while still being contactable in a pinch.
So it needs a cellular data connection, possibly sms, maybe an e-ink display for battery longevity, and it should be easy to send it arbitrary messages via an API.

Wasn’t a huge fan of Mickey17. Pattinson was great and all but a lot of the most interesting themes and questions raised by the book were traded in for sheer, relentless wackiness that I was exhausted by after the first hour or so (and the movie is nearly 2.5 hrs long).
