Religion note: there's a longstanding theological debate over whether Jesus would classify* as a refugee today (or, say, an Internally Displaced Person), but liberal Christians have noted to me that recent history further complicates their critics' position, as DHS has also detained U.S. citizens.
UPDATE: Another Chicago-area church has put up an immigration-themed Nativity scene.

A church member at Urban Village Church sent this one along, where Mary, Joseph and Jesus are gone and replaced with a sign that reads: “Due to ICE activity in our community, the Holy Family is in hiding.”

Despite claims of a revival of religion in the United States, a new report from Pew Research Center finds young Americans remain less religious than their parents or grandparents, with just over half (55%) claiming a religion.
Decline of religion remains stalled, says new Pew report. But there's no revival yet.
For the past five years, the decline of religion in America has stalled, after years of decline.

Btw, I can't find the "Gay Sex Lessons in Scots Schools" articles (a blessing, perhaps), but here's a Daily Record editorial which not only opposes repealing Section 28 but is fuckin weird about a woman not being married: www.thefreelibrary.com/RECORD+VIEW%...

There was a period where I think most people kind of just shrugged and went "okay well that was a dire period, and the new generation of journalists aren't for that bollocks", but not only has the Daily Record never apologised for running a homophobic campaign, it's back again for trans folk. Gross.
