Whenever indie devs use AI, it hurts their sales potential and retention because it’s a 🚩red flag for generalized unprofessionalism and cut corners.

Getting real art from a pro will make you look like a pro.

I was lured to this game back in 2012 specifically because I was an avid Samurai Warriors 2 and 3 player, where they lifted the character cast and designs from even though the gameplay is from Nobunaga's Ambition! Sadly I never finished this one and don't have my copy anymore, I'd love to replay it.
