Wonder if this Alpine WEC news means Alpine will sell its stake in Signatech...

This is an insane thing for the head of Instagram to say. If I was drinking alcohol for 16 hours a day that would qualify as addiction. Or playing video games for 16 hours a day.
A local BBC Radio station: hi, do you fancy coming on our lunchtime show to talk about Adam Mosseri and the trial in LA?
Me: um, I can talk about the issues, sure, but I think it's not great to discuss ongoing court cases, even if they are in the US and not subject to our laws on contempt of court
Instagram boss: 16 hours of daily use is not addiction
Instagram's Adam Mosseri faced questioning about the impact of his platform on minors.

The ACO/LMEM have confirmed to me that the European Le Mans Series and Michelin Le Mans Cup, both previously streamed on YouTube, will be broadcast for free through the new WEC app for this year.

New streaming platform for FIA WEC announced, replacing FIAWEC TV. It's called FIAWEC+. No word yet on if the live timing will improve to show tyre compound and energy usage...

Submitting a task for a job interview process is an excruciating feeling. I can't help thinking I've done it wrong, although when I rationalise it I don't think I have. It's that overhanging feeling of dread and doubt that I can't stand.

I turn on the Formula E to a bloke with tattoos, a baseball cap and chain with a gold medallion on it, rapping with dancers behind him. Formula E gets weird sometimes.

Had plans to write the next long form feature for @onlyendurance.com today, but toothache pain from having my wisdom tooth removed and a resultant headache has mostly put paid to that. Shame. Maybe I'll try this evening after Formula E.

"We know in other series, sportscars and stuff, they have ovens to keep the tyres warm..."

Karun Chandhok clearly hasn't watched IMSA/WEC recently... can't even keep tyres in the sun these days. #FormulaE

Thinking about this "Alpine may quit WEC at the end of 2026" thing.

Their cars aren't selling in great numbers and the US tariffs killed their business plan, as I understand it. Before the tariffs there was a very real possibility of selling cars in the US and using an IMSA entry to market that.

The Honda/HRC notebook I got at Daytona takes on a new relevance now 🏁

📊 ANALYSIS: Porsche dominated the Rolex 24 at Daytona… but did they? 🧐

We dive into the numbers to see whether PPM really did have a pace advantage over their GTP rivals.

Also I had a wisdom tooth out earlier and it appears this was maybe the worst day, in terms of sportscar stuff happening, to choose to have that done. Typical.

Have asked Honda and Inter Europol for comments on the reports they're looking to team up for a WEC Hypercar campaign as early as next year.

More on @onlyendurance.com when I receive responses from both.

Fair enough from Sam really.

Trying to work out, through Alkamel CSVs, whether a car took tyres or not at pitstops is a very difficult task.

Thing is, for IMSA the data does exist, through the pitnotes.org service. But it's all in PDF docs, which isn't hugely useful when you're trying to match it up to Alkamel data in CSVs.

New Daytona wallpaper from @onlyendurance.com photographer Griff Bean...

Good fun going through Griff's images to choose the best ones. Got lots more including some excellent portrait shots which would work as mobile wallpapers... 👀

Glad to see Kubica back for another year in WEC.

I have my own theories that the #83 may disappear next year - grid space is going to be very very tight - but it's good we'll get the yellow satellite Ferrari again this year at least.

Finally got to the bottom of this, with Chat GPT's help. It was a series of weird edge cases but is fixed now.
Also there's a bug somewhere in my code that makes my analysis tool think the Valkyrie led 17 laps (12 for Gunn, 5 for de Angelis), when they should be attributed to the #7 Porsche. So I'll hunt that down.

This sort of thing is always a little tricky because of how Alkamel formats their data.

Back home from Daytona now and back to reality... rain at Heathrow and heading into the day job office 😭

A few more interesting (well, to me) stats from Daytona:

* The #7 led 50.8% of the race - 375 laps from a total of 705.
* Porsche led the race overall for 71.5% - 445 laps.
* 9 GTP cars overall for at least a lap. The exceptions were the #10 WTR Cadillac and #23 Aston Martin THOR Valkyrie.
