Three Iowa City West high schoolers founded a book club that reads some of the country's most frequently banned books after a state law removing books with sexual content was signed in 2023. Two years later, many of the books have been reshelved and parts of the law can't be enforced.

 Ahead of October 18th’s nationwide ‘No Kings’ Day, some Republican leaders tried desperately to rebrand the protest against President Trump’s policies, not just as un-American, but as anti-American. But, this Republic was founded on dissent. The right to peaceably assemble and to seek redress of our government is etched into our Constitution. And it has been the catalyst for progress for generations.

Anderson created in his novel “Feed” is informed by the ‘feed’, a commercial brain implant that allows constant access to the internet, including a relentless stream of advertisements. When a hacker with little interest in the feed enters our young protagonist’s life, though, he is confronted with the realities of his existence: the perils of consumerism, his dangerous reliance on technology, the truth of his freewill, and just how endangered his critical thinking is. It is hard to believe that a novel so prescient, so relevant, was published in 2002.
