My article for @earthskyscience.bsky.social about the odd transient flashes - hypothesized to be objects orbiting Earth & coinciding with nuclear tests/UAP in 2 new peer-reviewed papers - seen in Palomar photographic plates from early 1950s, before the 1st satellites. 🤔

There’s a new article on Phys.org about the 1950s astronomical flashing #transients, making the case that they are unlikely to be the result of plate defects or atmospheric debris from the nuclear bomb testing. #UAP 🤔

Interesting! 2 new papers from Beatriz Villarroel et al now peer-reviewed and published in Scientific Reports and Publications of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific. Unusual transient points of light near Earth seen in pre-Sputnik (early 1950s) astronomical plates. 🤔

I love symphonic metal/rock music, but somehow missed The Rock Orchestra until now (which started in 2020)! A rotating collective of musicians combining classical, rock and metal music with gothic visuals. This cover of Zombie by The Cranberries, with Erin Fox, is amazing. 😲

Interesting article from @gilster.bsky.social at Centauri Dreams about how the newly discovered characteristics of the Wow! Signal could be consistent with power beaming (using electromagnetic beams to transmit power long-distance) instead of communication. 🤔

Had a dream last night that I was seeing live close-up video of 3I/ATLAS. It was a huge sphere with many little tubes or nozzles around its middle. They started emitting a lot of vapor or gas of some kind. And then a larger one shaped like a horn did the same thing. 🤷‍♂️😯

In regards to the exciting but still-potential discovery of evidence for ancient microbial life on #Mars, if I have to choose between random internet “experts” and the nearly 90 scientists listed in the peer-reviewed paper, I’m going to go with the scientists actually involved.

NASA's press release about the Sapphire Canyon sample obtained by the Perseverance rover in July 2024. It's the rock with the "leopard spots" and "poppy seeds" spots that *might* be evidence of ancient microbial life. The paper is now peer-reviewed. 🦠

I really didn’t like what Charlie Kirk stood for. BUT, murdering him was not the answer! He now has a grieving wife and young kids. There’s way too much violence as it is in this world. I see some cheering his death and MAGA declaring “war.” This madness has to end, but I know it probably won’t.
September 11, 2025 at 6:54 AM
The NASA Mars press briefing on Wednesday is about the same rock sampled in July 2024 with the “leopard spots” and “poppy seeds” markings on it. Those were identified as potential biosignatures, so the briefing on Wednesday will be an update on that apparently. 🤔😯

Another interesting Mars rock that the Perseverance rover saw on August 5, 2025 (Martian sol 1585). Kind of looks like a dumbo octopus or a helmet. And it's covered in many small spherical nodules. Concretions? 😉🐙🪖
