Wow. Got blocked for disagreeing with an overly-optimistic interpretation of some data about Drumpf’s declining approval rating.

Again, a third of Americans, at least, approve of this insanity in an unalterable way. That’s enough for this to be a persistent problem.
39%?!? How the fuck could he still be at 39%???

Going from 50-some to 39 is not a free-fall. The graph shows this: it’s an expected gradual decline that has probably flattened out. 30 to 40 percent of Americans approve, or just of Drumpf, but of what’s been happening over the last 11 months.

Autocorrect just tried to turn a misspelling of “shit son” into “Whitman”.

Tell me your phone thinks you’re a poet without telling me you’re a poet.

If you like an author's work, the best thing you can do is buy it. The second best thing you can do is ask your local library to buy it. Or, do both!
A reminder that the median book deal for a debut author in the UK is £7000, paid over 12-18 months. (from 2022 Society of Authors report). Some of your favourite writers are struggling. societyofauthors.org/2022/12/06/a....

An interesting review/opinion piece.

I’m just getting acquainted with Oliver’s work now. It’s uneven: some of it is trite and obvious; but some is really affecting, and she had a good of lining at her best.

I see no reason to be embarrassed by her.

Really interesting article.
‘There is something about the poetry which means that for all its experiments with voice – with modes of address, kinds of ventriloquy, sorts of listening – it always sounds like the same person talking.’
