Again if you’re making it a point to dismiss addressing bigotry as a legitimate politics you will attract these people and have trouble spotting them before it’s a problem.0
Jewish Insider just sent out an email with an article with more Platner info. And yeah, this guy is DONE done.

is there genuinely not a single charismatic state senator with some ambition in maine?
I really believe we deserve Senators who are neither Diane Feinstein nor John Fetterman but I’m not sure the universe agrees
Really gonna have to be good at politics!
Ingrassia lawyer’s angle is also that the texts are fake and satirical, but four Republican defections… will Trump try to push this Nazi through and force those Senators to vote against him?
Senate Majority Leader John Thune said Monday he hopes the White House withdraws Paul Ingrassia’s Office of Special Counsel nomination, after POLITICO reported on texts that showed him making racist and anti-Semitic remarks to fellow Republicans.

“He’s not gonna pass,” Thune told reporters.
Thune hopes White House withdraws Ingrassia nomination
At least three other Republicans signal they will oppose Ingrassia's confirmation.

A group of dozens of officials from across the federal government, including U.S. intelligence officers, has been helping to steer Trump's drive for retribution against his perceived “Deep State” enemies, according to government records and a source familiar with the effort.

Minit-thread: Bears repeating daily at this point: There were no immigration laws at all until white people on the West Coat began to fear the dreaded Yellow Peril of Chinese immigration in the 1880s. That's right. While these people were building railroads across mountain and plain...

This is an incredible read that illustrates the corrosive stupidity that seems to infest every single part of this administration
EXCLUSIVE: One Saturday afternoon in October, my phone lit up with a notification.

I glanced down at the message.

“Anna, Lindsey Halligan here,” it began.

So began my text exchange with the woman who is prosecuting the president's perceived political enemies.

MTG did sign the Epstein discharge petition. She's one of four Republicans to do so: Thomas Massie, Lauren Boebert, and Nancy Mace are the others, so it's probably fair to say she does know why they're delaying...

Victory over Trumpism will not be enough.

We must demand ACCOUNTABILITY.

Every last person who broke their oath and violated the law must be held accountable.
DOJ whistleblower Erez Reuveni says Emil Bove told him, 'those planes need to take off no matter what, and if some court should issue an order preventing that, we may have to consider telling that court 'fuck you.'

Reuveni: It is the highest, most egregious violation of the lawyer's code of ethics.
sure feels like there's a pincer on American govt/society with these demogogues controlling this massive bloc of evangelical Christians on one side, and technocratic network-state types on the other - with power being consolidated globally in the hands of very few people
"Even with all of that, it will be at least a generation before MAGA is either socially domesticated or tamed into a marginal and largely inconsequential fringe group."
Article says overcoming MAGA will require "a vigorous and unrelenting challenge to MAGA ideas, operations, and personalities using religious concepts, language, and biblical texts."
a crusade of sixty million, led by a thousand ministry leaders and one charismatic, deified leader, trampling constitutional governance and civil power in a quest for prosperity to vindicate their own faith. the mind boggles to come up with some kind of redemption
Sobering read: "For those who see the Bible as the only authoritative rulebook for themselves, their country, and the people of the world—and who interpret the Bible only as the MAGA prophets instruct them to—the Constitution can be more of a problem than a solution."

🧵Guarantee it's the Epstein money trail that's spooking Trump more than the child rape.

As soon as Trump took office, he immediately blocked the 4-year congressional investigation into Epstein's assets.

He also immediately revoked access to all sensitive docs.

It’s worth remembering that, with few exceptions, Trump doesn’t have beliefs - only fleeting dispositional states. It is constitutively impossible for a person like that to “change his mind” or “make a U-turn.” Media should stop using that language.
prez graphically loses his shit over massive no kings rally; world left baffled as he desperately attempts to meme king moniker into existence amid innumerable, ever-growing scandals that stand to suffocate all remaining respectability of his joke of an "administration"

This thread is fantastic. Go read it.
In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.
Not a shitpost: #NoKings is feel-good performative activism for comfortable mostly upper and upper middle class white folks and that’s good, actually. Millions of people in the streets protesting a fascist regime is good. It is good for the normie baseline to be massive displays of public dissent.

it's literally just this. let them eat memes. this and violence and smash and grab theft
It’s going to be an interesting test case to see if an entire administration can govern for four years based entirely on vibes and (literal) shitposting. Honestly nothing else. Nothing to improve the economy, quality of life or national safety. Entirely focused on dicking around on twitter.

it’s been horrifying to see how many republicans believe in the “elected dictator” theory especially after they spent the entire Biden and Obama presidencies (who both won by larger margins) saying that they are dictators
Sources tell me that in celebration of the 250th anniversary of #NoKings, the Navy is going to launch missiles into Camp Pendleton!

Massive turnout at the #NoKings protest in Pasadena. Calm, peaceful, multigenerational crowd. Patriotic signs and American flags everywhere. I’m still waiting for my check from Soros.

Extremely peaceful in Pasadena today. Highlights included the whole crowd singing America the Beautiful in front of City Hall & watching a stranger help patch up the skinned knee of a man who stumbled on the pavement. Love of country & love of neighbor were both on full display.
