National Guard troops don't sign up to be used as political pawns. They sign up to serve their country, not needlessly deploy to American cities to pick up garbage. These two soldiers should be alive right now and at home with their families for Thanksgiving. I'm furious.

Really not that long ago on a human timescale. The vicious perpetrators of this atrocity may be dead, but there are plenty of people alive today who would do the same. Some are likely in our current administration.

The president publicly fantasized about the execution of federal lawmakers this morning. Donald Trump has bent our sense of perspective to his will so successfully, and our eyes have been glued to the looking-glass for so long that we no longer blink at what would have once caused us to gasp.
