It's a very blustery morning here. In the gloom, I can hear our robin ticking, and then, as if by magic, he appears on the fence. The only bird I can see or hear. #FirstBirdOfMyDay

University tuition fees in England to rise with inflation from 2026.

Student debt is £267bn, could double in a decade. Due to low wages unlikely to be repaid. Young people burdened.

Most European countries don't charge uni fees. England destroying social mobility. Must abolish tuition fees.

Bridget Phillipson confirmed the plans for the next two years, with fees to increase automatically after that.

A damp, dark, breezy start. A brief glimpse of a shape darting over our house, a starling maybe? A faint peep of a shore bird, maybe an oystercatcher? Half an hour later, a definite sighting! Our robin on the fence.
Another grey day. The robin doesn't seem too bothered by me and Sophie in the garden this morning. Maybe it's getting used to us being in its territory. A herring gull flies by, two crows discuss their day and two magpies sit in silence on our roof. Back to work today, hey ho. #FirstBirdOfMyDay
The sunrise this morning over Cemaes
A grey day with a little rain here on Anglesey. A robin was bobbin' along the fence and over to the feeder. Two magpies flew over onto the roof. They were put on alert by a neighbour's cat creeping along the fence. Thankfully, the cat had a bell on its collar and "my" robin flew to safety.

A quiet start in the garden with Sophie the poodle. Only distant house sparrows chattering and a blackbird alarming. As soon as I got back indoors, a goldfinch landed on the feeder and jackdaw popped up on a neighbour's roof. #FirstBirdOfMyDay
Our third dog, Sophie. Without her, the past three years would have been so much harder than they were. She's practically a life saver.
7:30 in the garden, clear and cool and nothing was moving. I could hear "our" robin ticking somewhere and the cockerel was telling everyone to get up but I was the only one listening. With my eyes closed, I could hear black-headed gulls, crows, robins and house sparrows.

The Two Ronnies (16th October 1976). An appeal on behalf of the Loyal Society for the Provensination of Pispronounciation.
A quiet grey day again. It seems we have a resident robin. He/she was standing guard on the back fence watching the feeder. Another obin was singing somewhere in the neighbourhood.

Today is the centenary of the birth of the great Tony Hart who opened the eyes of generations to visual art and who is forever associated with this, the shimmering Gallery theme from Vision On – which was also pretty much everyone’s introduction to the vibraphone. youtu.be/-ZNkJXKV7_w

The robin on the fence ignores me and Sophie the poodle. He/she is one of only two species I've seen in our garden since moving in last week, the other was the magpie. Time for more feeders I think. An oystercatcher calls and the cockerel finishes off his cicker-doodke-doo #FirstBirdOfMyDay
@angbirdnews.bsky.social a walk from Menai Bridge to Church Island this afternoon: 1 common sandpiper, 2 curlew, 4 oystercatcher, 2 redshank and 4 little egret.
A grey still day and no birds in the air or on top of houses. From my back garden I could hear a crow and what sounded like house sparrows but they were out of sight. The new garden isn't bird friendly (apart from the feeder I put up on Saturday). I've got some planning to do. No cockerel again.
It's very quiet with a bit of dampness in the air. Nothing flying when I first went in the back garden, but I did hear crows and gulls in the distance. At the front, five jackdaws are perched on neighbours' chimneys. Not a peep from the cockerel. #FirstBirdOfMyDay
The cockerel crowing takes me back to times with my nana and grandad 50 years ago. I love it!
The first bird of my day is a magpie trying to get sunflower seeds from a feeder designed for much smaller birds. It's not going to give up by the looks of it. The cockerell is a crowing again. #FirstBirdOfMyDay
@angbirdnews.bsky.social Midafternoon walk from Cemaes to Wylfa head. Birding highlights: 1 little egret, 1 curlew, 1 gannet, umpteen oystercatcher, 2 cormorant, fly-bys of rook, carrion crow and jackdaw with chaffinch, meadow pipit, blue tit, pied wagtail, stonechat, dunnock and robin at the head.
I've found a definite 11 and a possible 12th but I'm not 100% on the 12th.

Good morning, and I hope you're having a good start to your #PostboxSaturday
This is my new local postbox at Cemaes Bay. It's less than 100 metres away from our house, so no excuses for me not sending letters and postcards now!
