Hi! I'm Owen, and I've been a game developer for 20+ years. I'm half of Milkbag Games, an indie studio in Ontario, Canada. We made Disco Zoo, FutureGrind, Sidewords, and more.

I mostly post about game dev, or games-adjacent stuff, but I'm also a hobbyist potter, so sometimes I post about that too!

Finally I can talk about this: Jinja's Garden was announced yesterday! It's a cozy gardening adventure by Sago Mini launching on Apple Arcade next month! It's a fantastic intro to cozy games for kids 3-6 (and beyond.. my 7 yo loves it!).

In our SantaCraft Steam forums we get a lot of vocal people saying that they would love to play the game, but that they don't buy games without achievements. And I don't get it. Not every game needs achievements.

I know there’s a lot of stuff to complain about with autocorrect, but the thing that drives me absolutely crazy is auto-capitalizing brand names. Kindly walk into a lake, autocorrect. Do not do their branding work for them.

A story Stoppard told several times, in several places:
"Years and years ago, there was a production of The Tempest, out of doors, at an Oxford college on a lawn, which was the stage, and the lawn went back towards the lake in the grounds of the college, and the play began in natural light. But as it developed, and as it became time for Ariel to say his farewell to the world of The Tempest, the evening had started to close in and there was some artificial lighting coming on. And as Ariel uttered his last speech, he turned and he ran across the grass, and he got to the edge of the lake and he just kept running across the top of the water — the producer having thoughtfully provided a kind of walkway an inch beneath the water. And you could see and you could hear the plish, plash as he ran away from you across the top of the lake, until the gloom enveloped him and he disappeared from your view. And as he did so, from the further shore, a firework rocket was ignited, and it went whoosh into the air, and high up there it burst into lots of sparks, and all the sparks went out, and he had gone. "When you look up the stage directions, it says, 'Exit Ariel.”

was trying to explain what makes Jigsaw Puzzle Dreams so good to a friend and I feel like saying "full physics jigsaw pieces" always undersells it

you can even move the pieces to anywhere else in the house and complete the puzzle on the floor or in the kitchen sink if you wanted
