Prof Elden, on Latour’s Down to Earth:
There is “a conviction, shared by some powerful people, that the ecological threat is real and that the only way for them to survive is to abandon any pretense at sharing a common future with the rest of the world”

The Heartland Institute, a MAGA climate denial group, has been trying to influence UK and European politics with the help of Nigel Farage.

We’ve mapped their key allies as they attempt to impose Trump’s agenda across the pond 👇🏻

A year ago, as the world convulsed from Donald Trump’s victory in the U.S. presidential election, his allies were already identifying their next frontier. In December, the Heartland Institute hosted a...

Private equity companies purchase and ruin locally owned businesses.

They wedge in a larger profit margin by stripping the business of all that is good about it (whilst hiking prices) and leave the community it serves enshittified.
This is my personal experience.

If both the right and left accuse BBC of political bias, they’re “doing something right” (Gillian Tett, FT), so

if only the left accuse GBNews and the like of political bias, wouldn’t that suggest they are “doing something wrong”?

100% real quote from Exxon's assistant general counsel on why Big Oil is trying to block lawsuits to make polluters pay for the costs of their pollution:

“I didn’t just move my family to Texas from the East Coast to have a bunch of activists and ambitious politicians bankrupt the company.”
Exxon's next Supreme Court play
Oil companies are once again asking the high court to intervene in climate deception lawsuits — part of an all-hands-on-deck effort by Big Oil and the Trump administration to shut the cases down.

X policies actively amplify covert foreign influence campaigns
(BylineTimes article 👇)

Has anyone at the EU or in UK government done a cost-benefit analysis of retaining US as an ally, versus the (perhaps irreparable) damage to our democracies?

EXACTLY, I watched Putin's trolls pushing Brexit even here in USA. Brexit was clearly, obviously, indubitably a Kremlin plot to divide UK from EU, and divide the entire Western Alliance; based on the same NAZI fear of "others"/xenophobia/white nationalism/faux nationalism, etc. that got DJT elected.
