Yes. All the empirics on misinformation indicate that the way to defeat bad ideas is to mock and marginalize them. Constantly declaring "hey the far right isn't so bad" is a terrible strategy both morally and electorally.

Our society's moral failing isn't lack of "civility" or "respect for different viewpoints". It's that so many views are lacking in empathy/compassion that they support a government spending billons in weapons while scoffing at the idea of spending fractions of that to feed, clothe, and house people.

This really resonates with me. As a tradesmen who works around a lot of blue-collar workers, I know how much these policies can impact us. But they don’t because there’s absolutely zero investment or outreach to working class voters.

the democratic party’s basic problem is it has almost no control over how its message reaches the ears of voters, especially outside of presidential election years. but rather than devote serious time, attention and cash to that problem its consultants and pundits want to fight factional battles
