Since I can’t bookmark these, I’m pinning this “thread of threads” to my profile for easy access, more for my benefit than for yours.

First up: My Dead Oceans Records listening project.

My current listening project is making my way through the Dead Oceans catalogue, so I’ll be threading my thoughts on each of the albums here. I hope you’ll give some of these a look, but feel free to mute as you see fit.

Oof, I’ve got some serious raking in my near future.

THE DEVIL’S REJECTS abandons the spookshow visuals in favor of the grit and grime of backroad exploitation. It’s a better film by a large margin, but not nearly as fun of a film. Some dialogue could still use a polish, but Bill Moseley is a genuinely terrifying figure here.

I would say that hints of my entire personality can be found on this one bookshelf in my room.

HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES is a demented dark ride of cinema. It’s silly and unfocused and obsessed with spook show aesthetics, but those aesthetics are at least amazing. Some of the dialogue is cringey, but Rob Zombie is gonna Rob Zombie. I still think he would benefit from a cowriter if nothing else.

They talked me into an engine flush too, but at least they didn’t try to upsell new air filters like they usually do. 🙏

If you’ve subscribed before you already know what you’re in for. I don’t think the issues with browsing are anything new, they’ve just never been fixed.

Just finished the first arc of Absolute Batman, and yeah, it’s pretty rad.

Has anybody even tried to synch these up to see if it’s a WIZARD OF OZ/DARK SIDE OF THE MOON situation?

You’ll know A.i. has taken over my account when my taste begins to suck. But a quick glance at my timeline will show you that my taste remains unimpeachable, and thus, it is the real me. 🙏

Gary Peacock: December Poems

New to me. Double-bassist Gary Peacock performs 4 solo tracks & 2 where he’s accompanied by Jan Garbarek on saxophone. This is laid back & chilly jazz, so DECEMBER POEMS is kind of an apt title even though it’s all instrumentals. Having a bass player on a jazz…(1/2)

Yep. Maybe a few more years and they’ll fix the browsing issue. 🙄

I do find browsing with Marvel much easier, personally, but yeah the facsimile editions being under their own listing is wildly unnecessary.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks browsing titles on the DC Universe Infinite app is atrocious. But I’m less glad that this has been a common complaint for literally years and it hasn’t been addressed in any way.

…album is almost a prerequisite, & bass is perfect for a solo run during a track, but it’s a little more difficult to pull off an entire solo song, much less (practically) an entire album. Peacock makes an admirable attempt but it definitely shines brighter when he’s accompanied by Garbarek.(2/2)
