Following reports that private landlords can increase rent for students outside of DoH caps, we are calling on Minister Lawless to publish his student accommodation strategy without delay.

Does the Minister's priorities lie with developers or with students?

Govt TD asks why Dart and Luas are delayed “in favour of funding roads”, two others look for rail projects to be funded
-- When opposition highlighted delays, Tánaiste Simon Harris claims -- after defunding shovel-ready rail projects -- that it doesn't have to be "either-or in terms of road infrastructure or public transport". Three Government TDs have gone against a Cabinet decision to fund more roads at the expense of public transport. John Lahart (Fianna Fail) this week questioned why "crucial Luas Finglas and Dart South-West projects have been delayed in favour of funding roads", while his party colleague, Kildare-based James Lawless TD, and said he was advocating for rail projects at Government level, which he said would cost more if delayed.

What are the top three things we need to focus on to turn the tide on our rotting system?

-Housing
-Affordability
-Climate Action

A big thanks to the Coinnigh Clé- Keep Left campaign for having cross party discussion on the back of the success of the Connolly campaign.

The reason is your party, John.

Fascinated by Fianna Fáil TDs who are surprised that changing the policy of 2:1 spending on public transport will result in less public transport being built.

We won't always make popular decisions but at the very least we could make fair decisions.

Fine Gael & Fianna Fáil would prefer to angrily shut down debate, rather than hear criticism of their rent hikes on the least well off while giving the maximum tax cut to homeowners.

New DART and Luas lines, which ALREADY HAVE planning permission, are being delayed 4-5 years. This is a direct consequence of the Government’s decision to spend less on public transport.
DART+ South West is shelved until 2030. It has full planning approval since 2024, no judicial reviews and is ready to go but construction won't start until after 2030. A lot of housing around Adamstown and Clonburris built in anticipation of this upgrade.

Today, I saw a driver overtake a stopped bus and plough through a pedestrian crossing. He beeped three times as he sped though. The beeping was to warn people because, as he had overtaken a bus, he had zero visibility of who was about to step out onto the crossing.

But sure, more hi-vis, everyone
👀 Can you see me now?

The importance of visibility on our roads cannot be understated, particularly for vulnerable road users including pedestrians, cyclists, e-scooter drivers and motorcyclists.

Every single Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil TD lied to the public that they would continue investing in public transport - just with more roads also.

And they continue to lie about their level of support for public transport. Worth remembering.

Have you lived somewhere with no secure, sheltered bike parking?

Lack of decent parking at home is a big barrier.

I worked with the Belarmine RA and the council to run a pilot to see could we support residents in a practical way with advice and funding.

Councillors voted last night for higher rents and higher parking charges. I want to be clear I voted against these.

We put forward an alternative budget for Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown that was fair, balanced and fully costed. Fine Gael & Fianna Fáil councillors were the only ones to vote against it.

I'm in Dún Laoghaire County Hall to scrutinise and vote on the council's 2026 budget.

The draft budget presented by the Chief Executive is for €313.7m across all the services the council delivers.

Any questions?

Note: this budget doesn't include capital projects which is managed separately.
