I wish that's how it worked, but it's not. The ability or willingness of anybody to love us-- "love" the verb, not "love" the feeling-- has zero to do w/ what we "deserve."

Everyone deserves joy. Everyone deserves peace and comfort. Everyone deserves to know they are loved and they matter and that they are creatures of incredible value and worth. But if you believe that you do not, even while believing that others do, you will never come to know that which you deserve

If you are not at least trying to work to understand, comfort, love, accept yourself, flaws and all, no one showing you love and accepting your flaws will seem sincere, sincere though they may be. You will always look between the lines for something hidden and will always find what's not there

No one will bring you the peace and joy you want in your life on a platter. Your inner child, with all of their wounds and tears, will immediately suspect foul play and may, for a while, find a smile or two; but they will always turn and reject, because history has harmed them against such gifts

Elora gets frequently flirted with by women and I love it ^^
She doesn't see it or pick up on it, but when I later point out that the cashier was giving her eyes while they spoke, or that the server was leaning in and paying her extra special attention, she gets all blushy and shy and giggly

The mist-shrouded morning at Point Reyes National Seashore, hiking with @sallyfisherprice.bsky.social, felt not just haunted or ethereal, but otherworldly. The zenith of that sensation came when a huge bull elk appeared out of the landscape as if a ghost from another land entirely.
