Taking a sip of her tea, she watched the wonderful picture-box, the RCA 630TS she had purchased last month had finally been delivered. It felt like catharsis to finally get her hand on one.
The outrage people had displayed when the device was out of stock in her region, laws broken as people tried to steal the display model.
The police had come round after that, with their interrogative tone, trying to figure out what happened.
Of course, she could still peer through portals - but those were two-way, so she risked being seen by the observed. This was a one-way setup. She could see news without worry!
Staying safe, as people started noticing how she appeared not to age, led her to stay indoors more. The room with the tv was her most treasured now. She was transfixed with modern technology - where would it go next?

This is evil. Will sit in the hearts of these children for years to come. It is a traumatic experience that no child should have to witness watching a daycare worker be pulled out like a pig. It's disgusting.
