Anyway, fawning over politicians is weird, point blank. Politicians are not your friends, they are not your aunts/uncles, they are not your family, they are careerists only concerned with getting ahead in the game.

Did everyone just forget when Kamala Harris promised a hardline stance on immigration as president, or promised that "America would have the world's most lethal army!" like it was a good thing? Or were y'all just not paying attention.

I was hoping for some leftist Kamala Harris opinions to retweet but this whole site is liberal hell and all your Kamala-touting literally makes me want to throw up, so I'll just repost from twitter. These say it better than I could anyhow.

“YOUR LEGACY WILL ALWAYS BE GENOCIDE”

Last night, multiple protestors called out former Vice President Kamala Harris during her book tour stop in D.C.

Kamala Harris says she isn’t the president, but she was vice president while bombs rained on Gaza and got $5 MILLION from AIPAC

Cherry Smith's 'Famished' should be on the national curriculum. Not just for English Literature, but History & Politics too.

Last year I had fifteen poems published in a 12-month period (Dec. '23 - Dec. '24), this year I'll have ten. But I was also a lot pickier with what magazines I submitted to, so it evens out I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I've got four poems set to be published between now and December, including a poem with ANMLY on October 15!

Pauline Johnson was one of Canada's most beloved poets.
Her poems focused on her duel English-Mohawk heritage, which were reflected in her stage shows.
Celebrated for her work, she remains an important literary figure in our history.
This is her story.

Her performances were split into two acts. In the first act, she performed as Tekahionwake, which was her Mohawk name. She wore Indigenous clothing and items given to her by her grandfather. In this part, her poetry highlighted Indigenous issues and history.

In the second part, she changed into a Victorian dress. This performance focused on English verse and touched on women's rights.
She performed around North America and published books of poetry including The White Wampum in 1895 and Canadian Born in 1903.

The cover includes an illustration of a woman with long hair standing among stylized plants, with a moon in the background. About censorship on Bluesky:

From the moment you decide to create a multi-themed platform based on the content generated by other people, you need to understand that those people are your clients. Without them, you wouldn’t be in the position you are now.

Clients should be able to consume and publish whatever they want —within reasonable limits—. THEY DECIDE. Therefore, your role as a platform should be to remain neutral and facilitate so that people themselves can choose what they want to see or not.

Personally, I’m not a big fan of extremely explicit sexual NSFW. But nudity is still one of the most beautiful forms of art and anatomical study, and I enjoy other types of +18 content. If there’s something I specifically don’t want to see, I mute it or block it; that’s what those options are for.

Moderation, instead of focusing on censoring the very content that sustains the platform, should be aimed at improving the user experience and giving us more tools to decide for ourselves.

I am sure I have not said anything particularly outrageous or novel, just common sense, but I needed to say it

Why Bsky's new content bans are BAD: 1. ANTHING "problematic" gets banned. 2. THEY decide what's "problematic", not the site's users. 3. Anyone posting "problematic" content is LESS likely to self-moderate for fear of being banned. 4. This is the death of the FREEDOM of expression on this site.

Do NOT believe the misinfo going around

There absolutely have been MASSIVE TOS updates

Most notably:

1) Specifying no FICTIONAL noncon
2) No "dangerous" kink
3) No DISCUSSING self harm, suicide, or substance abuse unless its "educational"

So what can we DO about it?

#SaveSpeech

1/🧵
Multiple cropped screenshots showing portions of the bsky TOS before and now. Before: "iv. Encouraging self-harm or suicide
v. Depictions of excessive violence, gore, torture, dismemberment, or non-consensual sexual activity". Now: "ii. We do not allow sexual content involving non-consensual activity including synthetic, simulated, illustrated, or animated versions. iv. Do not create, share, or promote sexual content involving realistic risk of death or serious injury. i. Do not share content, methods, instructions, or promotion of self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, and extreme dieting practices.
ii. Do not share methods, instructions, depictions, or promotion of dangerous stunts or abuse of dangerous or controlled substances. 5. Protected Expression
B. Support, Recovery, and Mental Health:
i. Personal recovery experiences or survivor stories shared to promote healing and community support rather than encouraging harmful behavior.
ii. Sharing verified mental health resources, crisis prevention".

Fuck every Democrat who voted for Charlie Kirk day. Fuck every politician in this country.

Barack Obama dropped a bomb every eight minutes for his entire eight years in office. He dropped so many bombs he ran out of bombs. He made the Democrats choose Biden when we wanted Bernie. He bailed out the banks and told Flint to drink their lead-poisoned water. He's not a good guy.

I'm really having trouble processing the relative silence from Barack Obama about a colleague who he'd hosted at the White House, the Minnesota State House Speaker, being assassinated, but rushing to get out a weepy statement about Charlie fucking Kirk.

If people like Klein truly believe this, then they must also believe that people celebrating his death, even encouraging more, are practicing politics the right way, but I bet they don't. This loser was not practicing politics. He was trying to start a race war and various other wars/exterminations.

I think about this poem all the time.
We Lived Happily During the War, Ilya Kaminsky.

And when they bombed other people’s houses, we

protested
but not enough, we opposed them but not

enough. I was
in my bed, around my bed America

was falling: invisible house by invisible house by invisible house.

I took a chair outside and watched the sun.

In the sixth month
of a disastrous reign in the house of money

in the street of money in the city of money in the country of money,
our great country of money, we (forgive us)

lived happily during the war.
