No idea of an actual number, but the volume of people at the Ohio Statehouse was clearly the biggest in our contemporary fight for democracy

Hi, I'm the ProPublica reporter who's been tracking an unusual stat: U.S. citizens grabbed by immigration agents.

I did it because the government isn’t.

This is what I found.
They're putting up a new display over at the Museum of the Disingenuous.

Republican Cincinnati city council candidate advises city voters not to cast a complete ballot...because VOTING DILUTES YOUR VOTE.
Every city in Ohio spends the majority of its revenue on public safety. Understand this about the Ohio legislature's war on local government funding -- every dollar they take away from a city threatens, first and foremost, police and fire.
The City of Cincinnati now gets more of its budget from building inspection fees and permits than it gets in state aid.

The "anti-tax" state legislature has created a top-10 property tax state.

A 20-year campaign to grind down state support of local government -- the local government fund sliced, the estate tax eliminated.

Cincinnati gets more of its budget from building inspection fees than from state aid.
Ohio lawmakers trying to figure out why Ohio has the 8th highest local property tax levies, after lawmakers repeatedly cut state funding for local government, services, and public schools decade after decade.
The value of a degree program is irrelevant in Ohio.

State legislators -- hoping to harm Women's Studies and the like -- imposed a formula that is canceling medical, business, education degrees at CSU and skilled trade apprentice programs at Tri-C.

Making Ohio dumber and poorer to own the libs.

I was sent this by a Georgian this morning. 2025 premiums vs 2026 premiums for someone making $65k a year.

Republicans in Washington did this.

This is what I'm fighting to stop. This is what’s at stake in this shutdown fight.

I was back at 26 Federal Plaza today, where an ICE agent violently threw this bereft woman to the ground in front of her kids. She had not touched him. She did not pose any threat. She had to be taken to the hospital. (🎥: Elias Eliahu)
If there is one thing every university president should have learned from Santa Ono's saga -- it is that there is simply no level of debasement sufficient to protect you from the purge, so you might as well go down fighting

Hah hah. Funny! Becauss -- get it -- you could leave the dock of your village to go catch fish and be blown apart by guided missile fired by a nation with whom your country is not actually at war. You'd be dead and no fish for dinner! Hilarious.

We are the terrorists.
We are the shithole nation.

Want to know more about the Ohio redistricting process?

Read my recent Q&A with UC SPIA professor @nivenpolitics.bsky.social, where he discussed how Ohio’s districts are drawn, what trends have been established and why Ohio is redrawing its districts compared to other states.
Ohio’s redistricting process from a SPIA professor’s perspective.
With a newly drawn congressional map proposed by Ohio Democrats last week, state redistricting is once again at the forefront of political discussion. Yet for many Ohioans, this decennial ritual

This is shameful. Any #Ohio politician who signs onto this is actively choosing to honor one of the most harmful white supremacists in modern America.
